My KH400 concourse project

Hi there.
I'm new to the club.
I have just started a hobby restoration of a KH400 A3 1976 - green.

I'm lucky because it is an unmolested un crashed completely standard and complete bike although a bit rusty. 15000 miles on the clock.

Already I've stripped it and separated 70 or so chrome parts including rims, nuts and bolts, pipes and all the rest and sent them off to a chroming company (S&T) in Bristol. I intend to retain the exact original bike with no departures from standard. By the way, I have taken hundreds of reference photos as I striped it down so if anyone needs some, let me know.

I'm hoping you'll answer a few questions for me:
1. Given that I'm restoring the original bike. (Meaning where possible I'll recover the original parts rather than buy nos or pattern parts.) I expect to have most parts on hand.
But realistically what parts are rare as hens teeth? ie What can I expect not to find?
2, What are the toughest jobs = technically hard?
3, I want to refurbish the rear shocks. Does anyone know a company that will do it well for me?
4, Is there anything else I should know?
5, Can I still get a nos seat cover?
6, Where is a good source of parts?

If you're wanting to win Trophies, then you should ask your chromer not to polish everything to mirror finish, they never were that finish from Kawasaki.

And certainly to not try and polish the top and bottom seams of the exhausts until they are smooth..

Just caught up with your post,a man after my own heart it sounds like you are well on the way to producing a cracking bike and as a hobby restoration you should enjoy every moment of it :smt023

Your KH is beautiful... really stunning.
I've been working on mine most of the weekend and your is SUCH a contrast - almost a tonic for my eyes.
All I see with mine is rust and muck!
But that's all part of the fun right?
I'm sure I'll have a million questions as the months go by.
My last project took me 12 years so maybe I should say "as the years go by!"
