H2 vibes
I've owned my H2a for about 3 years & it's always vibrated quite a bit particularly round about 3/4K revs.
Anyway today I was trying to sort out another problem, the bike had recently decided not to rev past 6k.
I changed the plugs, changed the original US rubber ht caps, checked the timing, took the heads off as2 of the gaskets were blowing.Sadly made no real difference.
Then I noticed the latest victim of the vibration- the 4 bolts that hold the gold ignition boxes in place were missing ,so the whole set up was just sort of sitting in its mounting barely earthed.
Bolted it up and problem solved! Can't believe it shook all 4 out! Maybe there was only the odd one there in the first place.
Over the years it's also shaken off-
Clutch lever pivot bolt
Left hand side panel, luckily my mate travelling behind found it.
2 stroke oil tank mounting bottom bolt
Front pattern indicator bulb mounting broke in half.
One tail piece reflector,my mate missed this one!
One pod filter
Speedo & rev counter cables often unscrew themselves.
Anyone beat this?

Indicator bulbs that turn into glass powder..
But on a trip once when I stopped and got off, I stuck my knee on something solid, the front engine mounting bolt was sticking right out only hung on by a thread or two..

Re: H2 vibes
Actually it's funny you should bring up the ignition thing John..
I've just been building a new Electronic Tacho for the H2 and found it would't read over 6K from my lash up of Ignition units on the bench. Soon as I pressed the boxes down hard onto the earth connecton more securely... right up to 9K!
That's worth remembering..

Re: H2 vibes
We raced a H2 back in the 70's and quickly learned that the most used tool in my tool box to always be stored on the very top shelf was............................wait for it......................................Locktite!
I couldn't keep it from shaking itself to near death! Sammy pulled into the pits one time and just lucky but I noticed that the cotter pin had evidently cracked and broke away allowing the castle nut to drop off. The only thing keeping the axle in line was the chain adjuster. The axle had also moved out about 2-3cm!
I keep pretty close tabs on my bikes today...and yes, even check for the cotter pins presence as a matter of habit! LOL

How did you go about rubber mounting your H2 ?
Im guessing there is some machining involved etc ?
Cheers

Re: H2 vibes
After having owned several 250s and 400s in the eighties I returned to triple ownership a few years ago and bought an H2c. When I took it for the first run I genuinely thought it was going to blow up and self destruct and that I had somehow unfortunately bought a bike with a damaged crankshaft or shot main bearings. After spending the kind of money I did I was really worried because nothing in my memory of riding triples 30 years ago matched this feeling. I anxiously started asking around and posting on these forums and soon realised that everything was OK and that loose numberplate bolts, numb fingers and blurred vision were all part of the normal experience of 750 engines.
Sometimes I miss the 400 engine, Maybe I remember it through rose tinted glasses but I always think of it a turbine smooth.
