George Benson remarked that he remembers the time when Rally goers used to buy bottles of beer to take back to their tents at last orders.
Nowadays he’s filling hot water bottles how things have changed
You’ve reminded me of my mates and I who have been going to Phillip Island (GP’s & WSBK) since the first race in 1989.
We’d usually be up and in the pubs, or cruising the streets till 1 or 2am.
Now, it’s dinner in a restaurant (the pubs are full of ‘young blokes’), a wander around looking at bikes, and they’re (we are) in our tents by 9:30/10:00pm!!
I should never have let them turn 70!
Akashi was on Coupes Moto Legent at Dijon'strack this weekend with my H2A perfet trip (only 310 kilometers to go ).
Plenty of old friends with some I raced on production 1000 cc class on H2 a very long time ago.
Went to bed at 11 PM.
When we raced we never went to bed before 1or 2 AM afer a few drinks
But we were around 20 years old and now we are nearly close to 70 years old
