I just spotted that there's a H1B and an H2A up for auction in Dorset this Thursday. It'll be interesting to see how well they do

Lots of stuff wrong with the B.....I cannot see it making anywhere near that reserve

The script supporting the advert, claims a complete nut and bolt restoration, it makes no claim that the bike is 'show/concourse' standard......at the end of the day both bikes will be worth what someone is prepared to pay

Well that was a bit of a surprise, the H1B made £10k + premium, so £11500-£11800ish, while the H2A didn't sell

I take it from that,the H2 had a reserve which wasn't met?

I'm not sure about the reserve. However, usually if something is being sold without reserve then the auction listing says so, also the reserve tends to be the lower figure of the estimates that they display. If you are bidding online you can't usually bid below the low estimate, so it may just be that nobody bid on it at all. Was it a very "correct" H2? It seems that some peoples are very specific about triples' correctness, though whether they are frequent buyers is unclear. Interestingly, I was talking to a classic car guy recently who had sold a very valuable Merc and he said that at the serious classic auction at Goodwood a lot of the actual buyers just decide to bid on the spot, they haven't looked at the car, they just see it across the room as it is brought in & perhaps check the catalogue.

If there is a reserve, Charterhouse always give an estimate , in the case of the H2 it was £12-14K .
Normally the reserve is the lower estimate so can assume bids didn't reach £12k.
"Full nut and bolt restoration" and still two broken fins........hmmmmmmmmmmm!!!

If it was a fish it would be more of a problem. My H2B has a few damaged fins. Runs just fine
