Modern fuel

So it's been a while since I've had some shed time.
This afternoon I decided to give my H1E some TLC
The 1st job remove the tank and drain the fuel (Esso's finest) as I removed the tank I hear a sloshing sound that isn't akin to petrol.
As the tank drained I looked inside

I was shocked to see loose rust sloshing around and rust patches.
This tank was immaculate inside around a year ago, I'm gutted, that's totally wrecked what enthusiasm I had to do anything bike wise.

Ah. At this time of year when the bikes are used less often I stick in a bit of fuel additive (Sta-Bil) I've never left a bike to sit for a year,so I don't know if the additive would help in the future.

It's a heartbreaker,but ethanol will ruin stuff if left to it's own devices.

Remember all that crap I found in the carbs earlier last year Gaz??

The tank was full of it when I drained it in Nov.. The Tap was almost blocked.. Mind you, one of the filters had disappeared.. I mean disappeared, gone, no remains, no sign..

My 69 H1 packed up for no reason a few weeks ago, even though I use it regularly, I'm expecting the carbs to be full of crap and the tank...

Sickening, but thankyou also for reminding me to check mine, I started the bike 2 weeks ago but it's not fit outside to want to ride it ( which it needs)
I'll put some stabiliser in and try and slosh it about.

I bought some 'Storage Fuel' this year from link below, it's 99 octane, my bike runs sweet as on it, it's certainly not cheap but certainly cheaper than some of the damage we have seen on here.

If you can find a local garden centre on their suppliers list they can order it the next time they put an order in for a 'pallet' delivery, otherwise delivery is a fortune
