Hi all, need some help with a wire ( maybe an earth???)that comes off the front chain cover top screw and disappears into the engine top area???? Any help please what it is or does and part number and where can I get one. Thumbs Up

It is just to earth the engine to the frame. Is connected to any clean earth point on the frame.
Put the painted one back in the box or nearest bin :lol:

It's easy enough to make one. To expand on Tony's reply, the engine is rubber-mounted and needs to be earthed (to the frame) so that the neutral light and horn work. I could explain more, but I'll spare you that.

And the sparks too Gerald, you certainly don't want them finding a route to ground anywhere near the Carbs...

Indeed, but I probably wouldn't try to start it until I had a neutral light, thus saving , potentially, hours looking for the ignition 'fault elsewhere'!!
