Took the H1 from Margate to Deal in Kent with friends this morning. Fab ride there in the early morning sunshine. Sat on the seawall chatting and having a fag.
On the journey home we cleared the town of Deal and out onto the open road when my clutch cable gave up the ghost.
That bike has never let me down and today was no exception. She got me the 15 odd miles home. I rolled into roundabouts with a clear enough gap to keep moving and only stopped at road junctions twice. On both occasions I was on a downhill slope so could roll off and drop into 1st.
Had a look this after noon and the bottom nipple on the cable is chewed, will get the lifter off during the week and change it and the cable.
I love that Bike

when you break your clutch cable you can come back home if you still have the central stand. When you must stop, you put the bike on the central stand, start the engine go to first then 2d gear go out the central stand and then you ride, have done it twice (one time inside Paris which wasn't easy with all traffic light, one time 200 kilometers from home) :smt004

I put a tiny jubille clip around the clutch lifter cable holder last year.. it's still there, it simply stops the nipple fron being able to slide out.

I bought a new cable too, but I can't be arsed while it's working OK.

About 70 miles around Derbyshire on the Avenger today, with a coffee stop at the Cat and Fiddle.

Image

It's a bit thirsty (drinks far more petrol and oil than my RG500s) but it's a very pretty little thing :)
