2:4 seats

Post by Bic_Bicknell »

Does anyone remember the aftermarket seats that were available in the late 70s and early 90s made by a company called 2:4? Their logo was a set of dice showing the numbers two and four and their typical style was a bit lower than standard but with a raised up rear section that formed a sort of one and a half seat space with a bum stop. They looked especially good on the Z1 bikes and other big four strokes of the time but a few of my mates had them fitted to their KH triples.

Do these seats ever come up for sale on ebay or elsewhere, (or even are they still manufactured)?

I'd really like to try and get one for my H2c but obviously I need to find one that is the right length for this model.

Any thoughts?

Re-covered but looks like a 2:4 seat http://www.kawasakitriplesclub.net/foru ... +up#p89926

There are still a few around. I had one in the 80's, they look good but removing a lot of foam means low seat height (cramped knees) and a sore bum! Soon went back to standard.

I think 2:4 seats were only available for the KH250/400 models. The one I had on my 400 looked good but, Jesus, with only about 3mm of foam it was not at all comfortable for any distance.

I don't recall them being made for any of the 750's. They were on the market a bit late for these bikes probably. Loads of them got fitted on slightly later bikes like Z650's and Z900/1000's.

There was a another make, or maybe they came from the same factory with a different name? - Giuliari

This one of Adrian's looks to have been repadded as mine is much flatter and thinner than this.

This is my 2:4 that I lent to Fred Smith for his fast 400 back in 2011. Suits his short legs with so little padding. :)

I've dug out a really old picture of one of my favourite bikes from my teenage years. It wasn't mine but a good mates and I got to design and respray it like this. This is the 2:4 seat that I remember so well. The bike was a KH400 I think it was originally a metallic olive green.

I'm pretty sure this is a 2 - 4 seat on my Z900 back in about 1988.

2-4 were bought out by Giuliari around 1978. There are loads of Giuliari's still about, they come up regularly on Ebay Germany and Ebay France in particular. I have 3 of 'em for my Z650. There are plenty of copies about too, but IMHO they are not a patch on proper Giuliari/2-4 seats. PK seats are making copies if you are not fussy.
