They are brilliant - I've got 3 of them. I'm not sure that most people would consider them a 'practical' sports bike - like a £2000 Fireblade or R1 etc.

I was reading it up until a couple of years ago but the photos started getting on my tits. Don't know if they're still at it but they insisted on getting their heads down on all photo shoots, fine on a late 80's sports bike but quite frankly looks ridiculous on anything with forward positioned pegs, especially if you're carrying a few pounds. Oh and their apparent fondness for Honda MB5s. Fugly fugly moped.

Pete, my memory of the article on the RG , was that the journo was underwhelmed by it............................

just think what that is compared to an H2 ?

I think the feature in practical sportsbikes that was done on the rg500 was very good and I have no reason to think that the feature on h2's will be any different. H2's already have a mention in the magazine as being "malevalent" and "unhinged" so it should be off to a good start!

of course the mag is primarily aimed at later classics, but I think it merely wants to give an insight into earlier "badboy" bikes as well.

and at the end of the day though who cares if they like it or not?

are you all not missing the point of the mag, does the title with the word practical in the title more refer to the fact that they are to be worked on 'practically', rather than sent in for some bod with a computer reading device to fix them.

I think the mags great, I used to get practical classics when I had my Stag, and there were some pretty impracticle cars featured in there, BUT all were able to be worked on by a competant home mechanic.

I didn't think the article was too bad. A couple of factual errors (as usual) like: "400s have a different stroke to 500s" and a nonsense model timeline.

Anyway, we won't have to wait too long to see what they think of H2s ....

Are Practical Sportsbikes affiliated to Classic Bike Mag? This H2 foto looks very familiar to a H2 tested by Classic Bike May 2013... See 'Proper Bikes' website (don't know how to post a link) where this H2 is for sale.

That will TOTALLY kill any impact then . . . . . . And I don't say that to decry the B & C . . . Just that they REALLY don't have the same characteristics as the early H2's

Beautiful though a h2c is, they definitely feel a little insipid and ponderous to ride compared to the short wheel base H2's.

Kenny is a top bloke too – told us to ride it how we want. Wheelies too, which we weren't expecting to do, but I'm not going to look a gifthorse in the mouth! Managed to get out for a couple of hours yesterday just to familiarise myself – loved it. Handling is, erm, interesting, and even with his extra disc conversion it takes a bit of stopping. But you can't argue with that motor – what laugh that is, and to be honest the chassis makes it all the more fun, if you ride it with some consideration for what it is.
Seemed to me pulling yourself over the bars cured some of the rear-endy feel and wandery feel – not natural with those bars, but I don't suppose that was the riding style at the time. Worked for me, though. Great bike – would love to own one. Probably a US bike with the indicators and mirrors off, a few period correct cosmetic tweaks, and a set of Dencos with a tune to make it a bit lairier. Probably have to go on the fantasy lottery list these days though.

Anyway, enough of that rambling. Just the photoshoot left – got everything else written with Rick's assistance, so that's all good stuff, loads of info in there. Always tricky with a buying guide like this – got to get it right with a crowd of fanatics ready to pick fault, but the Rick gave us was great. Hopefully the Triples crowd will enjoy it.
