I would know first how is the situation about Spa.
We leave Leon done the works as he have connections and if he succed to have the meeting at Spa would be unfair to do not coming even if we drive on the wrong side of the road in continental Europe.

The problem JP is that we have heard little or nothing since the initial posts fron Leon.Even those were pretty vague, which was possibly down to the translation, but what did come across was a general apathy from the organisers about us attending.
I would of loved a continental foray on my H2 but i fear that if we leave things much longer we may end up with no event to mark this milestone. There is a deadline in Feb sometime for the track time.We Brits like to be organised and i know lots of people who are employed need to book leave so we need to make a decision quickly.....I have made mine.

g6mow wrote:As Adrian (KAS750) has posted previously. If we were to attend the Festival of 1000 Bikes to celebrate the 40th Anniversary I don't think we could do much better.

The event and venue is excellent with all facilities you could need.

3 day event
central location
camping
Track time Public Road (Sat) and Race Bike (Sun) Track Sessions
The biggest line up in Europe of Past Masters Machines and Star Riders on track.
Pre 65 Trials
Historic Grass Track
Historic Sprint Demo
Avenue of Clubs (50 clubs in attendance in 2011)
Trade Stands/Auto jumble
Real Ale Bar open all weekend with panoramic views of Stebbe Straight

Even more Live bands on the new ?Classic Racer Magazine Stage? starting Fri of the weekend which will feature more attractions for 2012 as well as the popular ?Stars on Stage? interviews.

I rest my case :D
not a trip aboard though is it?

As my holidays "work" I need to take a week off to be able to go away for a weekend, sadly this means I will miss the dutch and german triple rallies, as well as most of the uk meets this year

to me it is "another" UK meet.

Belgium or Mallory Park?

IMHO NOTHING beats a ride to a foreign triples rally

But I guess as most of you know Ray and I (used) to go the dutch and german rallies every year you will know that anyway

why don't we include going to the bulldog bash as well

My thinking exactly Gary... it'll be just another UK Rally, hardly an international celebration of the H2 if there are just the UK members there.

I reckon most of the potential attendees will have never enjoyed a really good foreign excursion on two wheels.

Leon, if yer looking in, what is the latest position?

not quite so mr wolf , whatever happens some people wont be happy, but i for 1 after trying to get this thing sorted out for months now and all the quibling over we dont need back up vans and others saying i will only go if there is back up support .
i am afraid i do more than my fair share of FREE work for the club and myself and Simon Lister have really tried to get this off the ground but i am afraid it wont be me taking the flack when it goes wrong in a muddy belgium field .
i have a complete list of everyone that sent contact details to me stressing a interest in going via the chunnel/those that wanted to via northern crossing Simon Lister has them ,i will be contacting everyone to let them know the situation, BY ALL MEANS IF ANYONE ELSE IN THE CLUB WANTS TO TRY AND SORT THIS OUT I WILL GIVE THEM ALL THE SLIPS THAT PEOPLE SENT TO ME .
SO IF ANYONE WANTS TO DO IT STEP UP TO THE PLATE :?

Gary & Graham

I think you are both missing the points as to why some of us are not going to Spa. From the first mention of the event I have been mad keen to attend but as time has gone on I have got more and more concerned that it is not going to be what most of us expected.

No camping on site of the event, meaning we will be spread far and wide. The whole idea was to be a European celebration of the H2. This is simply not going to happen if we are not in one central spot. I thought about entrance fee's, too. If we did not stay on the circuit would we have to pay entrance fee's each day. We have had no feedback as to who else is going Germans,Italians Swiss ???? Has the event been publicised In other European countries other than by Leon,JP and ourselves ?? I am not having a go at Leon at all but the event organisers, when all comes to all they are not exactly welcoming us with open arms are they.

so.....
Its lookin like the Spa trip has dropped to pieces..... :(
I, like a lot of others, have been really excited, lookin forward to a fantastic 40th, with loadsa H2's from all over europe and beyond, with everyone partying en masse. Yes, it sounded fantastic.....

BUT...
All along, i've had this feelin inside, that it was all too good to be true...and Simon has explained it perfectly.
If we're not ALL going, and its gonna be a 'no show' from all the other clubs, then there really is no point is there...
I've been to the 1000 bikes every year since it was resurrected, and it IS a good week end, BUT this was supposed to be a special occasion-a EUROPE WIDE special occasion- for our beloved H2's, and now it looks as tho its not gonna happen...
It looks as tho i'll have to make do with a very muddy or a very dusty Mallory park instead....

I'm happy , and looking forward to celebrating the H2 anniversary with like minded mates, wherever that may be.

However, due to organisational difficulties (not our own), it really seems that this will be at the festival in Leicestershire, and that's where I'll be :D

It makes sense to me and to be frank its gonna be so much easier to get to mallory , and cheaper too.

And I personally applaud, and thank Gerald, Gary, Simon, Leon and all others who have made efforts (against the odds) to sort out a group trip to Spa,
