Having read all your comments I can say that I appreciate, some and there are others that I would rather just forget about. Meanwhile I am pleased to have been able to provide a website for the club that has supported you all well for many years but also understand that nothing lasts forever.

Rather than comment on every point, and explain or justify the reasons about why certain things are as they are I will just agree that maybe the club could pay good money for something far better.

The challenge I have is a job that leaves me jumping on and off planes, travelling around the world, which means I no longer have the bandwidth to address all the things you are asking for without the sort of IT support that Paul has provided in the past. Even though he asked that we wait, the feeling is we are all running out of patience.

So having read your comments about how we have to move on, right now my hands are tied due to pressing engagements at work. I guess it realy means that I have to hold my hands up and agree that the club appoints a new webman. Maybe there is somebody with the time, energy and vision to give you the kind of website that you are all asking for.

Where I can I will fix any of the minor issues that have been mentioned about the current site. Then see who is ready to step forward and pick up the torch.

I was just making some observations


like all matters club related it needs discussing at a committee meeting.

If I could create and hoast a front page & update it regularly then I would.

Sadly I have neither the time/skill or money to do so

Youre taking this far too personal and need to chill out a bit! No ones having a go, but the frontend is poor and as such reflects on the club, it should be very very easy to join, and renew membership and club stuff should be purchaseable before people lose interest!

I for one will not buy from a company with a poor website, or were you have to email to get a price/availabilty

with my limited knowledge of tinternet, the cost of hosting a frontend (i dont know why it couldnt be hosted here) elsewhere would be less than a couple of hundred quid a year, and that would include intiial setup. Then it would just need to be updated a few times a year to reflect new events and maybe news of previous events, nothing major as thats what the mag is for!

I do think a mountain is being made out of a molehill, web costs are economical nowadays.

I would offer to design and update the frontend, but only if I get a new job, which i am actively seeking

Some quite valid points have been made, and all in an adult and civil way with none of the sniping etc that can sometimes arise. Please don't take them as any personal slant Pete as I certainly haven't read as such into any of them.

Anyway Gary, have you and Pete managed to have contact and conclude his application?

Simon is right web hosting does not cost what it did and is a lot simpler than it was a few years ago. My all singing all dancing new web site costs me £150 a year. I'm sure the club can afford that.

I am technophobic but find my website is really easy to use, if fact it is as simple as listing stuff on Ebay and can be changed and updated as many times as I like There are many companies who can offer what we need at a reasonable cost.

As said we need volunteers to put themselves forward with their ideas, then it needs to be discussed at a committee meeting.

This is the company that did my site. Very helpful, I did everything by phone and email.

Thanks for the link. I had a look already, and we may be able to go somehwere with this. I have some ideas.

Maybe we/I relied too much on one individual.
