Have you noticed though - where the handlebar risers are supposed to locate - there are light bulbs - one blue and one yellow
Gonna take some work this one - pipes are off as are the heads. Looks like only one cylinder has been re-bored. Carbs are good except one poorly spring and one tickover rod missing Looks like it has been de-coked recently (In miles not years) Only one baffle is stuck - along with two of the cylinders. Tank is perfectly clean inside - not out though
Rims and forks are good - I though I saw somewhere on this site how to date the rims
Speedo works - not sure about rev counter and the wiring has been 'modified'
Keep you updated.

You will find some stampings on each Rim, just say what they are on here and there is plenty of "anoraks" (myself included) who can date them

Front rim has 0c rear either 3j or 8j is this what the codes are

Front rim is march 1970 and probabley the correct one
rear rim is Oct 1973 or Oct 1978!!
It will be 1973 and is not the original one

Why would you want it Neil ?. Its a European model

Has it got the correct back light on it?

Not the "normal" one but have seen that back light on the Jap H1 dvd that I got from Keith 500 maybe it just for home market??? no doubt another anorak will let us know

I am no expert, but, I have seen a UK spec 70 H1 advertised on ebay a few yrs ago with the same style back light, it was peacock grey in colour, this bike has been restored & was on the club stand at stafford in 2009, I seem to recall that the back light had been changed for the usual 69/70/71 one.
question is where would you get an early A1/A7/ W1 back light from & why?

Like I said Gary the Jap bike on the vid....it was a white 69 was a minter and had that back light so its looks as if they were fitted to the early bikes ....posso ANOTHER factory fxxk up ????

Hardly a Fook-up.

Just good stock control. You often see early and late in the production models from Kawasaki using older or newer parts.

Probably when that "Kansai"/ just in time inventory control system they were taught by the Americans screwed up. No stock of the new tail light design for the new model. OK Lets not hold up the production line , use those old model ones , till the correct design arrives.
And at the end " Hmmmm , we have had less orders for this old model than forecast. So we have too many of the old speedo design. OK, just use some of them on the new model at first "

Another example. I had a mfd 1974 S1 back from the States one time. It all added up to an S1-B. Speedo having different graduation markings from a C etc. Darnit, I even painted it green before checking the numbers to realise it was a very early C. With B parts fitted from new. ( And just ask Wolfie. He`s adamant his S1-C has had chromed headlamp ears from new. But every trainspotter will disagree........ )

Fact is. The Factory would fit whatever kept the production line going. They were mass produced units with an expected planned obsolesence factor . They didn`t expect us to be debating the widgets 40 yrs later !!!

Oh. btw Johhny. This S2 I`m offering for your nightmare bike ( Caw, take it of yer `ands mister. Scrap value ) This S2 is garuanteed to run forever, and never break down !!!

Neil, don't think you would really want it - needs a re-bore and some other bits -
If you remember Neil we had a conversation about me buying / you supplying this exact model - the same as what I had in 1980. The crimson red rather than the orangey red you normally see.
I do need a battery strap, battery cover - front mudguard would be good and an mph speedo if anyone can help.

What a cracking H1 you have - love it

OK - this is haow far I have got with the '70 H1 so far.
Some shiney bits, some not so shiney bits, some professionaly cleaned bits (thanks Higgsy) - and the points cover. Thanks also to Rob and Clive too.

Front wheel will have to be re-spoked.


Seat will be OK as is.





Only painting the side panel - thanks Rob.





Mudguards from Canada and USA



Forks just cleaned up with new seals!



Pipes cleaned.



Bits.



Good bottom end cleaned.



A few more clean bits.
