We know about the corrosion problems caused by using Ethanol based fuel in our older vehicles, especially when storing them over Winter. Fortunately, it seems a solution is now available in the U.K...or at least it will be, by the end of next week I am assured. Motorex, a Swiss based oil company have recently formulated a product that reduces the damage that Ethanol is wreaking in our fuel systems. I am not aware of any other product that does this in the UK at present, there is Star-Tron in the U.S., but despite looking hard I can find nothing that does the job over here. All I see are general fuel stabilisers, but they have no effect on Ethanol

Retail will be around the £10 mark for a bottle.

Ive been told high octane fuel has a great deal less ethanol. So ihave started using it!

...which is why you get better mpg using V-Power etc. Not because of the higher octane rating, but because the petrol being without as much diluting ethanol has a higher calorific content. i.e. it stores more energy and is consequently more efficient.

I am lead to believe all super unleaded and total unleaded does not contain any ethanol at the moment lets face it the fuel our babies go thru a few pence a litre more makes little difference

Things are never going to get any better.
At the moment we are on E5 over hear (5% ethanol).
In France it is E7, the EU eventually are looking for E15!!!
Even E5 destroys fibreglass fuel tanks over time.
I too always use only higher octane main brand fuel, but eventually that too will contain some Ethanol, it will have to.

Some Super Unleaded already does contain Ethanol....it depends which fuel you use and where you are located in the UK. It's almost Pot luck whether you are using it or not

In a recent investigation this was the result:

BP Ethanol is added at 5% to unleaded petrol at all sites across the UK. BP Ultimate (super unleaded petrol) does not have Ethanol added, except in the South West of England.

Esso Ethanol is added at 5% to unleaded petrol at most sites in the UK. Esso Super Unleaded petrol does not contain Ethanol, except in the South West of England (Devon & Cornwall)

Shell Shell has repeatedly refused to answer the question. It is therefore an assumption only, that all Shell petrol should be considered to contain 5% Ethanol.

Texaco Ethanol is added at 5% to unleaded petrol. Texaco Super Unleaded petrol does not contain Ethanol.

Total Ethanol is not added to any Total fuel (including standard unleaded petrol). Except in the North West and South East of England

The Motorex Ethanol Booster increases the Octane rating of normal unleaded and allows the Ethanol portion to burn properly, so it gives the increased power normally only obtained from running Super.

In addition it reduces the corrosive effect caused by the Hygroscopic Ethanol absorbing water and forming Acetic Acid - it's that acid that is destroying fuel systems and tanks.

Given a ten quid bottle will treat 50 gallons of fuel - it is a cheaper and more effective method than hunting out V Power or similar, which may very well have Ethanol in it anyway

In France use SP 98 no ethanol, don't use SP 95 plenty of ethanol

Hi all, Looks like just what I need. Here in the south west it looks like we get ethanol even in the Super.
Is it available and where can I get it ?.

Ive ordered some to try.

I bought some yesterday. It's already in my bikes.

If the product is anything as good as the funky bottle it'll be a winner.

Squeeze the bottle until the required amount goes into the measuring cup in the top and just pour it all in to the tank, no more pours than the amount you squeezed into the top. Simple method but very effective
