Had it once already, but briefly. I went with Alan Smith to collect it from Chris when Alan bought it in the 90's. Alan only managed a couple of meetings with it before moving to Loch Ness and it then passed quickly through my hands when he moved, then on to Simon Whitelock who turned out too chicken to ride it - he fully acknowledged this fact. Rick then shortly after had a chap from Yorkshire ask him about drag bikes as he wanted a big stroker and so he facilitated the sale. In 2001 I had a call out of the blue from the chap who bought it, I think named Graham, asking about it's history. Rick had given my number. Graham (?) was quite enthusiastic about getting it up and runnning but I don't know if he ever did. I'm guessing this is the chap flogging it now.
BTW, when it went through my hands it was around the £1700 mark back then, so it is looking good value now even though it is in a somewhat parlous state compared to then.

I just saw his Q & A on the auction and it appears Greg (not Graham) never did get it running.

A: Hi mate . Regarding times I have no info on that . I'd have thought a bike of the same spec would have run high eights or low nines back in the day running a 15ins rear . There are two rear wheels , the aforementioned 15ins and an 18ins ally three spoke rear. All spacers and offset drive sprockets are there. We ran the bike for a minute or so (it was very loud) then proceeded to strip it down . Regards Greg "H"

That is so tempting but I would have my important bits forcably removed if I came home with that.
Only just made shed room for what I have.

That was an interesting end to watch the clock count down. we sat here and watched (Both Alan and myself were previous owners) Plus, I had a dog in the fight as well . . . I said to Alan it would do 1,850 as my snipe disappeared . . . and guess what, it seems I do actually know my Onions . . . albeit, soggy & mouldy ones[

when it 1st came on it had a buy it now option of £800

Never really saw the attraction of drag racing until taking the Chopasaki 250 to a 'Run What You Brung'.
Despite that the name Chris Spry seemed familiar.
A quick google search this morning came up with the link above.
24 minutes in on the second video.
Not had time to watch it all.

Thanks for those links. Try the first vid at 9:12 for the interview with Chris. That blue bike's frame and bodywork, that Chris inherted from brother Rod when Rod went to ProStock, is the basis of my yellow bike. I got it from them when Chris also aimed at ProStock and built his motor into the bike just auctioned.

I expect Greg was more than over the moon with the way the auction went if he had put that as a BIN on. That was truly a bargain you missed there Gary.

Just watched 9.12 first vid. He looks a nice quiet lad and then you see the bike! Away to check the drag bit for pics of your bike. As I said only recently taken any interest in drag racing to a bit of reading to do regarding classes.

It was three or four years ago - full leathers are now required
