I had my H2 in a citroen berlingo!..Citroen dispatch/fiat scudo are perfect though.Reasonably priced,reliable,dont rust and are economical.
I do lots of miles and swap every couple of years so i have experience of good and bad and the dispatch and its two other derivatives are pretty much unbeatable...Avoid the Renault traffic,Nissan primastar,Merc Vito if possible..Although some are ok i can recall numerous horror stories of these.

The Merc Vito is probably the worst van on the road for rotting, if it had a Citroen or Renault badge on it the press and public would slate them because they`re French but because it`s a Merc and German that's OK for it to rot and look like a load of shit.

:smt003 spot on..Add the horrendous spares prices and random electric faults and you have a vehicle for people with very deep pockets that are blinded by the badge..

I've owned Peugeot's and Fiat vans for over 15 years, most recently a Fiat Scudo and a Peugeot Expert. Not an ounce of trouble engine of body wise. Most importantly I get 2 bikes in them, they also a make fantastic bedroom at rallies

I had not heard of these problems, I know that like many vehicles that some of the merc engine/transmissions are a pain to work on

The fella who repairs my washer etc has owned a new Vito for just over a year. It's in the garage more than it's out. It had a gearbox replacement within 3 months he had so much trouble with it, he was given a replacement after 6 months. The replacement is giving him even more trouble than the first From what I understand the only part of a Vito van that is Mercedes is the badge

I use a caddy loadsa space

mind u converted for a wheelchair have had h2's and bigger in
but only 1 at a time .

As Si suggests I would have thought one of these are the perfect van for you Gra.

I used to transport me TZ in the back of the Discovery, just pop the top front fairing off and wheel her in, perfect fit

My 72 H2 goes in my Expert no problem. In fact I seem to remember having 2 in at one point. I've certainly had both my H2 and a S2 in with no drama.

the vito isn't built in Spain or in Portugal, this will explain many things :smt003

The Vito is made in a Mercedes plant in Vitoria, northern Spain, and named after the town it is made in

VW Transporter.
Only an 85 horse power job buts about okay. 2 bikes and being just a bit smaller than a transit means you park in a carpark bay and still have a chance of getting out the door.

.point to note the first generation vito has nothing to do with vw, I have one of the first generation vito's, I bought it new nov 97 and i'm still driving it today the only major incident has been ahead gasket which I did , the new vitois rear wheel drive and does have handling issues in bad conditions.
the caddy does look nice, compact but still plenty of room
