Kawasaki Triples Club

I bought my first Kawasaki triple
After months of searching on 1st April 1989 I set off to london to pick up this from Simon Whitelock for the sum of £230.




1990, just over 12 months later it wins best S Series at the kawasaki triples rally.



Little did I know the journey that would occur from that trip to London!
I have made life long friends,and become part of a great club.
I have ended up in the USA on many occasions all to do with triples.
My first trip to the USA was as recent as 2005, to Daytona, and this years trip to Mid Ohio will be my 10th time over there.
A good number of members in the club have become very close friends, and kawasaki triples has definately become a very large part of my life.

Its a few months before, TT 88, me and my late Dad.
He died the following February of cancer just 28 days before I bought that S2
He would have loved all I have achieved through the triples.
I didnt realy want a triple!
I wanted to buy a TZR250 to go production racing again!
Which was why I never had a triple in the first place as you needed an RD400 to be competetive in the racing
Julie was really against me having another go at the racing, what with having two small children and another to follow soon.
She said "why dont you do something safer like restore one"
The rest is history

How did you end up in Manchester , after being in the Fair Isles ?

25 years ago today I got married.
25 years ago tomorrow the wife and I went on our honeymoon on a KH400 camping in the Peak District.

My father was a lighthouse keeper in the scottish service which also included the Isle of man.
I was born in Shetland, we then got posted to the isle of man and after a few years back to Scotland (Isle of islay)
We got posted back to the isle of man and my father asked to retire there.
We did 5 years on Douglas head lighthouse(which all of you who have been to the island will have seen) and then 7 years on the calf of man.
I joined the lighthouse service when i was 21 and did 3 years.
On one of my spells of leave I came to Manchester to stay with my sister.
On a night out I met Julie.
And thats how I ended up in manchester

25 years ago tomorrow i was thinking what have I done!!
I had never rebuilt a bike or even an engine in my Life

my first triple was 1977 s1c
my first engine rebuild 1979 h1e the owner couldn't get the cases apart ,he forgot about the bolts under the rubber mount sleeves ,the bike came home to me in a wheelbarrow and that very same bike is still in the club SYK 810 I think its in Kent somewhere

I have looked out the window of the front door every night and say good night for over 5 years now.

great story Malc and my father died too on 1989 : cancer.

somewhere along the line I bought this!
JUST for one rear indicator bracket!!
It was in Ernie page M/c in edinbourgh the young rider having been kiiled on it many years before
the parents did not want the wreck and over the years it was stripped for parts.
I gave £50 for it in 1990 and they even delivered it
the biggest covered artic in the world (well it seemed like it!) pulled up outside my house?
full of EXUP"s etc the driver said, "Thank god we have got that pile of shite out before it marked any of the new bikes!"
I got my indicator bracket for my S2 and broke the rest for spares making a tidy profit

Ah feck feck feck. What was the reg no. On that S1 Malc ???

I have no idea BUT there are some more negatives in with the pictures and I know i did have a picture of the reg number although I dont have the photo anymore.
I applied for a logbook at the time but the DVLA gave me the bullshit that they had gone computerisered around about 1982 and you had to apply for the number then!
I didnt get the logbook.

I have now found quite a few pictures of SOME of the bikes I bought in the early 1990"s and can remember most of the prices I paid
I will add them on here soon
