Test outing for the the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride tomorrow at Borough Market organised by my mate Dutch Von Shed.

Event is really for cafe racers, bobbers, shed builds and old Brit classics so not sure what 600 other well dressed hipsters are going to think about a Japanese rice-burner popping and crackling along with the thumpers but we shall see. Told it's open to modern classics and if this isn't one I don't know what is.

Not sure how the bike will cope with two or three hours of second and third gear speeds, I'm expecting a lot of four-stroking but hopefully not too much overheating and that I will not end up with the spanners at the side of the road in my white shirt and suit.

Relieved to see you're sporting a barely supressed smirk there Bic. Dapper but I can't see that look catching on.

Ha Ha. We're just renting an apartment here for 10 months or so while our house is having building work done. It's an old Victorian "mental asylum for idiots". (Their words not mine). The driveway is surfaced like racetrack with bends like Brands Hatch round a lake. Cool.

I went on an organised ride to skeggy and back. The sedate speed and H2 surging made for a very long day!!! My poor ol clutch hand knew about it when i got home. Spent the last 50 miles doing clutchless changes

Tell me about it!
I spent two hours with 600 bikes round Central London, Embankment, Houses of Parliament, Chelsea and back to Borough Market. Never got out of second gear and most was in first with feathered clutch. These bikes don't want to go that slowly!!! Very hot weather with quite a few casualties from over heating bikes by the wayside.

Good day out though and some great bikes on show. Check out the CRC special I was parked behind. Very, very trick. I followed him for a way round and it's LOUD.

I was all signed up to the DGR - but I am waiting for my barrels to come back from the engineers, being rebored after my nip up at the Southern.
Looks like some nice bikes there, shame I couldn't make it.
