Anyone know if this stuff is any good?

It's far too subjective. You'll get a dozen different answers - every 2 stroke forum has been here many times. Just do a search. For the record I use 'Carlube' in my standard triples and Putoline synthetic in my newer stuff. As for chainsaws , is there a harder working 2 stroke engine, Pro wood cutters run them flat out ALL day,

It's funny you should mention that. As it happens I am peer reviewing an academic paper from Dr. Miles Davis of Unified Nano-Technology, Nova Scotia. There's quite a flutter over there due to a snow-mobile engine that's been running WITHOUT 2 stroke oil for a couple of months. Some time ago at IMAC (Institute Mechanique, Alberta, Canada) a researcher was attempting to find a lubricant to meet the exacting demands of the micro-processor industry, enabling heated components in the clinical manufacturing process to be lubricated in a way that would not contaminate the highly sensitive materials. After exhaustive trials the only substance that both lubricated and 'burned' residue-free was found to be a very particular type of sebum. The refined sebum has a very high boiling point but at which it takes on a weird dual-state -it vapourises internally with little expansion whilst maintaining a surface tension envelope that retains the vapour. It is currently used in Silicon Valley and has allowed the manfacturing process to run faster and more reliably. It turned out that the researcher's fiancé (Dr. Davis) was working on a project funded by a major snow-mobile manufacturer. He tried the refined sebum oil in the engine and it performed amazingly, still effective at ratios of over 500:1. What's more, they found it continued to lubricate the cylinder when followed by neat petrol (although not the con-rod bearings which burned out). Microscopic examination revealed that the compound sebum molecules adhere to the collections of carbon atoms at the grain boundaries of the cast iron cylinder liner and stay there as permanent lubrication. The twin cylinder snow-mobile engine has been redesigned with hydrodynamic closed-loop pressure fed crank and rod bearings that release no oil into the crankcase and has now been running 100% 2-stroke oil free under arduous conditions for 2 months. Exhaust emmissions are similar to a current 4 stroke. At present the technology is not commercially viable due to the expense of the base product but they are working on a synthetic version. The source of this remarkable sebum derivative? Newfoundland dog fur!!Chris Todd wrote: maybe prof Mitsui will have something to offer!!
