I have just acquired a H1F 500 will it run ok on semi synthic 2 stroke oil or is it best to just use a quality normal 2 stroke oil I have always used semi on my old Rd Yams.

I would go for semi , cleaner less smoke , maybe a little thinner but should not be a problem , thats what most people use !

Make smoke :)
Any two stroke will do. It's all better than oil made back in 70s.

As Sam points out ANY oil nowadays would be up to the job, Oil technology has come on in leaps and bounds in the last few decades - Just look how long engines last nowadays compared to rebuilding your old BMC motor every 30,000 miles, or your Hillman Hunter engine every 25,000! :?

Don't use fully synthetic unless you are gong to cane the arse off it, it will work like the old Castrol R and gum the rings up, personally I use a semi synthetic for road use Thumbs Up

Exol oil ebay £33 with post for 5ltr
Cant fault it the H1 runs very well and clean. Had to strip down top end the other month the top of the pistons were near spotless after about 7 thousand miles
