at this years national rally I picked up a KH500 frame from rick who assured me it was a uk registered frame but he couldn't find the logbook, and with everything that he had going on at the time I could fully understand.

get a registration number, easy I thought, yer right. My sister is an ex rozza but no help there, into the local cop shop " I've bought a frame from an autojumble with no log book can you check its not stolen before I start to build it?" " No sorry cant do that"

troll the internet all the free HPI check sites need a reg no.

find an old thread on a forum and some block is offering HPI checks on frame numbers, aha so sent him an e-mail and he says yes it will cost £25 but wont come back if its off DVLA register or an American import. Worth a try

got the report back today all clear Green/white Kawasaki kh500 complete with engine number , number of previous keepers and the all important reg number. result :iconthumbleft:

Now just got to send off £25 to DVLA for log book.

Another project will be underway soon, 'Project monster'

Thats good news kerry of course uk kh500 are very rare & you'll have to fully restore it now thats bog stock not even chambers !!

Good luck bud, what a dilemna, make a fun bike or take years/tear your hair out/go bankrupt (I recently 'sold' a KH inner seat tail mole for over £100 ) trying to restore a rare 'correct' one

aha found the loophole the kh500 engine I have to go in is not the correct number, therefore a full resto falls at the hurdle

project monster is still on

I can picture the bloody bike now! And I even have the old fuel tank There's a good chance that I have the cases as well - let me have the numbers?

While your looking for a set of kh500 cases look for a set of h2b cases for me

There is no reason why the police should not have checked your frame number to see if it had been reported lost or stolen. The police create those reports on the DVLA database and so own them under the data protection act. You are not asking for anyones personal details to be disclosed, only whether or not they have received a theft report. Write a letter of complaint direct to the local constabulary, or alternatively to your MP.

rick the engine number was KAE120068

maybe the log book is with the cases

was that the white frame?

Oh that`ll work. The Local Fuzz certainly won`t mind that at all. Chief Constable would positively thank you for that one.

You definitely wouldn`t start to get stopped on a regular basis , driving any of your vehicles ( " intermittant faulty tail light Sir " ) after putting a complaint like that in, will you ?

Actually, why not try it with other understanding Govt bodies too. ?

Like Customs at an Airport, or maybe even the Inland Revenue. They`d just love to process your compaint. !!


Any problems, and your local MP will rush yo your aid. They never side with the Establishment . They represent you ,the voter.
