Ok - we are organising a run out on Sunday 10th May. The intention is to meet at CMC Clay Cross - fuelled up at 9.30am to leave prior to 10.00am. We will take in some of the most panoramic scenery in Derbyshire, Staffordshire including the Peak District and do between 130 and 150 miles on the day. Hucklow Tom and Gary 557 will be our guides for the day as they both know the are like the back of their hands. We plan to stop around midday for a bacon buttie and cuppa. We will end up at Ladybower dam - setting for the 'Dambuster's' film - we should be able to take in the museum within the dam itself too. We anticipate being out for between 4 and 5 hours - but the whole thing will be weather dependent. All are welcome and should anyone wish to bring their bike(s) in a van I will arrange safe parking next to CMC Clay Cross.

Anyway, all set this end. Route planned, fuel stops, breakfast stop and an ice cream stop all if needed.

Looking forward to meeting everyone, Let's all hope the weather co operates,

We are unable to get sufficient detail on a map that is then transferable onto a PC - so the only way to give an idea of the route is as follows:

OUTBOUND

Leave CMC by 10! then:
STRETTON, RIBER CASTLE, STARKHOLMES, CROMFORD, NEWHAVEN, HARTINGTON, HULME END, WARSLOW, UPPER ELKSTONE, ALLGREAVE, BUXTON, MILLERS DALE, LITTON. BREAKFAST STOP AT THE YONDERMAN CAFE. SPARROWPIT, CASTLETON, HOPE, BAMFORD, HOWDEN DAM. There is a 633 Squadron museum in the first tower of the dam we can spend a little time in there.

RETURN.

HATHERSAGE, GRINDLEFORD, GREAT HUCKLOW, MONSAL HEAD, ASHFORD, BAKEWELL, YOULGRAVE, MIDDLETON, ELTON, BRASSINGTON, WIRKSWORTH, CRICH, SOUTH WINGFIELD and CLAY CROSS.

Tom has put a lot of effort into the route and hopefully the weather will be kind on Sunday!

OK, It looks like the weather is going to co-operate for once so now looking forward to meeting up with everyone who can make it.

For those wishing to join in en route, the petrol stops before the dams will be at Newhaven Garage on the A515 Ashbourne road and Rock Bay service station in Buxton, on the Leek road., just before the Cat and Fiddle turning. Roughly about 1 hour and 2 hours respectively into the journey depending on photograph stops and the like.

Or the breakfast venue, Yonderman café at Wardlow Mires on the A623 about a mile east of the B6049 crossing.

This should be a nice relaxing tour of some top roads and scenery, away from major traffic. I'll be riding my mono shock H1A, so will be taking it steady. I should point out the mono shock is by virtue of my new Hagons having not arrived in time, not some wondrous feat of engineering.

So, be there or be err somewhere else.

:D :D

Hi John
My dad flew in Lancasters during the war (navigator) so I might do a commemorative fly past -
What time are you expecting to get to the dam
