Finally got H1E running today after complete strip down 8 months ago, powder coated frame & rebuild.
Replaced some bits, renovated some bits and refitted engine as it come out with fresh oil etc (was going to look at that next year).
After about the fourth kick she fired into live ticking over at about 2500RPM. Held the oil pump open to mae sure lots of oil getting through.
JOY O JOY and hell of a lot of smoke,- neighbours quickly shut the windows :D

Unfortnately joy was sort lived because whislt i set about the tickover there was a sort of noise, - the ones you dont want to hear and then the engine stopped

Now the engine wont turn over and even worse there is a hole, yes a hole in the casing just under the nearside carbrettor

The question is what do you do now?
Is the casing repairable?
Any idears what would of caused that any way.?

Had the left cylinder off today and the bore looks okay but some of the bottom of the piston looks to be missing  The piston still appears to be connected to the con rod. :D

Posted this on RB and now looks like 1 got 3 options
1 - dont know wether to investigate myself (never been in a
gear box), :D

2 - possable some one might be able to give me assistance :D :D

3 - Take it somewhere to be repaired, any recommended places.

Live in Winchester, Hants.

Ivor

Hmmm! - That looks pretty Terminal to me!!
Scratch one set of Crankcases then :?
Well at least the Top Half anyway.

Looks like the Crank has gone west & tried to escape - Now needs a Re-Build - Crank/Top Engine Case at the very least. :(

No worries - Takes about an hour or so to get the Engine out & the same to strip it down - These Engines may be primeval but they are very Basic to work on :D

Best of luck - Keith :D

Whipped engine out tonight & taken off all 3 cylinder heads
Engine was jammed by the broken bits of piston between crank & case. Managed to get these bits out and engine now turns :D
i think that the broken bits of piston is what pushed through the casing :( but i think crank might be okay at first look!
Still need to strip etc

BUT CAN THE CASING BE TIG WELDED ?????

Will have to read about dimantling the engine as i never been there before :D all right for a pro to say about an hour :D

malc wildman purchased aload of engine parts from me,in that there are several sets of cases
i would be inclined to have a set bead blasted and re stamp the number and strt from fresh
if you try to have it welded chances are it may warp
