Kawasaki Triples Club

Too late as it shows as sold but just curious as to who owned this triple ?

It was a bike dealer in Blackpool selling it, I don't know where he picked it up from. I think that Higgsy had a look but decided it was a bit over priced for him.

By all accounts it was built by a bloke from the Buxton area.
I've heard it's been bought by a well known NW non club member.

6k for a 500 or 10k for a 750 seems about where they are but not that I know lol
Being modified are they not worth as much or maybe more ?

6k would be a good price for a standard early H1, generally the later the model the less its worth. You couldn't give KH500's away five years ago but they do seem to be more sought after now.

Specials are never worth as much as a standard bike unless its very special and well done. There are a few things with that bike that would ring alarm bells to me e.g. it says KH500 but registered 1973 which would make it a H1D. I wouldn't be surprised if the carburation is all over the place with those K&N's etc.

Nice looking bike though if it was the right money.

Yes I admit I'm as green as Kawasaki's colour so need to do my homework before I did buy
But then I like modified bikes so the wrong decals or clocks wouldn't concern me so much
As you say providing its built well and runs well what does it matter on a special.... imo

L reg makes it H1D in probability, but it does look to have a fair few later parts - locking fuel cap, speedo, seat lock, check valves on motor and so on. I'm not sure I can see KH frame gusseting but it does look like it could be a bit fishy without knowing any ins and outs about it.

Oh yeah. Those Made in Britain H1-D's are incredibly rare.

This is one of those Goldfish threads. Genuine UK bikes, non original horn brackets , That just keep coming up again and again !!
Just as some point of Club historical note, what year could we identify as a DEFINING YEAR of when us lot stopped being Yobos on a scarce make of bike , and painted them different colours, added chassis and performance improvements and rode them in the rain ; to all turning up in vans ( and leaving after prize givings ). With 100point perfect nearly restorations,of classic motorcycles ??

Yes, I suppose there has always been the trains potter element around, but it seems it's the majority now.

did it start before the. The Black Friday financial crash,. Where they,just old bikes before that, and now are Rare Investment opportunities ?

Just wondering. I also think there will be a backlash, or rather,counter revolution , against this trend. And we will begin to see more and more non standard bikes appearing again. Probably with non matching frame and engines, a mix of different year parts etc Shock / Horror !!!

Is there a single thread on how to modify your triple, would be good to know what fits what in the way of non standard parts from modern bikes
Engine, suspension n brake upgrade/ swaps, that sort of thing
Must be loads of goodies out there .....

Half the fun in building a special is working out what will fit and how to fit it.
Find something you like and then plan how to fit it.

One of my mates owned a British 1973 H1D registration number SHX 45L,but it never showed up
on RB's database? Also my old KH500 registration number LYU 685P also doesn't show up either?

so if either of these bikes were never owned by a club member , or passed through Rick's hands, then it's not likely to be on the database. Is it ?
