Kawasaki Triples Club

Hi guys and gals.
I have been thinking a bit following my post regarding KH500 forks on a KH400.
Since the twin disc forks are 36mm diameter on the KH500, and 34mm on the 400, would it be possible to bore out the triple trees to take the larger fork tubes?

If you mean the fork yolks then you could but it would be better and safer not to, 1mm a side is a large percentage of the available metal.
The leg spacing/centres may also be different.

As a 250 front end fitted my KH500 (it was supposed to be a 500 but I didn't notice until it was fitted) why not just fit the complete 500 front end?

You will need the complete H series front end - the yokes will go straight in the S frame. It will look a little peculiar I think with the heavier & larger front end on the bike though.

It doesn't look so strange. but,you could always lace up an 18" rim onto the package.

Thing is , if I recall right,bt his started out as a way to fit better brakes. so. Far simpler to go buy a brembo calliper off a Moto Guzzi v50 , and make a bracket to mount it on original KH250 fork leg. Or weld some calliper mounting brackets onto the original r/h leg.

oh FFS, just sell the twitchy thing and go buy a 500 !!!!

It's an easy upgrade to a EX 500 caliper, with good pads and steel line, it's as good as dual stockers. And you don't add 10 lbs. to the front wheel and you still have the 18" tire.

I did ask in an earlier post about better braking on the KH400, and did receive some good advice and information.
But as I said in my first post in this thread, I was wondering if a relatively quick and easy conversion would be to open the yolks out to 36mm to allow the later 500 forks to be fitted. I had seen that a complete 500 front end could be used.
I had also seen reference to a Brembo caliper - but which one had not been mentioned - so thanks for the heads up on the Guzzi V50!
I also read the the EX500 caliper was a good upgrade and may end up doing this and use Z250 / GPZ305 front disc which is apparently lighter and pre-drilled.
The removal of quite a bit of meat from the yolks is more of a concern than I had first imagined!
