Only happen to me

My H1A had been running really well, but the throttle was starting to get really heavy.
So I stripped the throttle casing down and sprayed copious amounts of WD into the chrome adjuster, reassembled everything and success I didn't need to be Arnold Schwarzenegger to ride my bike.
The next day I set off from work and the throttle twist grip felt a bit slack, I instantly thought "oh no the cable has started to snap" I gingerly rode home, but the throttle action was getting sloppier. By the time I got home it was slack so much I had to turn it 3/4 before I got any sort of acceleration
I was completely baffled
Got home stripped it down and found this

The outer sheath had pulled over the inner giving me a real long throttle action

That happened to the front brake cable on my Yam 200, the very first stop after a fast charge down a suburban hill to a T junction facing a row of terraced houses. Of course I was riding with a 17 year olds exuberance, and I still remember clear as a bell how I would probably have prematurely ended my days in someones living room if it had happened 50 yards, and one application earlier.
