Tomorrow Me, Chris, Rob H and Rob T are taking part in the Newcastle Distinguished Gentleman's Ride

Ride we can probably justify the other two are a bit debatable

I'm going on the Bristol ride. Been on the London one for the last thee years but just moved here recently. Only 150 bikes instead of 1,500 but I expect maybe a better type of person. ( I hope). The London lot have increasingly become an elitist load of pretentious, hipster fraternity that looks down on anything that doesn't conform to their idea of 'Cool'. This (incredibly limited view) would ban 1970's Kawasaki triples and many other Japanese iconic bikes but embrace modern Triumph retro clones, Cafe raced Honda CX500s, other shed built monstrosities based on other shit 80's bikes, Trikes, Harley bobbers, host of dubious 80's parallel twins with brown leather saddles and balloon grips, anything with a custom paint job done with a shitty Tippex pen under the influence of LSD. And rust and the 'distressed look' done with a wire brush and emery paper and then given a coat of clear-coat to protect the distress from....distress. But that's OK because they are never ridden except to pretentious ride-outs like this.

But I will be going because I believe in the cause, I've done it since the first one, I like pissing off the elitist lot with a load of two stroke smoke and I dress dapper so nobody can ever have a legitimate go at me!

We had 98 riders and thankfully no elitism at all just a real good friendlt atmosphere. Started off with free coffee and bacon sandwich courtesy of Triumph Newcastle.
Thoroughly enjoyed it but I did get a couple of complaints about the six foot high cloud of two stroke smoke when I let it rip after 20 miles at 20-30 mph
It was fine weather all the way around except for a very light five minute shower when we reached the Millenium Bridge on Newcastle Quayside. Here's some pics of the various bikes

Bristol crowd was much smaller than the London ride, about 150 bikes, and a lot more free with the style of bikes. Very friendly crowd and good vibe. Mine was the only two stroke there.

This was me this morning setting off in a very short spell when it wasn't raining.
