The wrong colour!

Back in the day, (1982) there was no Kawasaki Triples Club, there was no one who knew what colour a 1975 S3 candy red colour code was, there was no where to buy Rick Brett tank transfers, there was no-one who would think this was wrong.
You just had to go to your local car-care shop in the village and buy whatever they had in the back of the shop! I thought I did well to get some pretty glittery, purple rattle cans! I made my own masks and sprayed the lettering and pinstripes with an old Humbrol airbrush powered with air from an an over inflated car tyre.
Those were the days.

Yes look at those early Rally pictures. Some very interesting colour schemes.

Did you do the stripe yourself? Is it painted as well? It doesn't look like the usual transfer (because the end is very pointed).

I believe the Club was a Year old in 1982
That 400 rings a bell, do you remember the Reg number ? I also painted the lettering on my AVONS on my H2c, along with hideous home made paint jobs covering up lovely original paintwork
I remember around 30 Years ago, Dave Miller brought his h1b to a Rally and it won best in show . . . He brought it back 15 Years later and it came last in show, just a small insight into how restorations and information had moved on in a decade or so . . . . .

EVERYBODY , except Sam, had their Triples painted in garish ways back in the day !!!!
Before the Internet, and when we were MUCH younger , and poorer. It was the norm .
A lot of us rode our bikes to work. So a new paint job was a Saturday job with a few cans of paint from Halfords.
I used to respray my Cromwell full face helmet about once a month. It. Was a Barry Sheene replica for a while , and ended up being a copy of my white S1 tank. It looked brilliant at the time . Gawd knows what it would appear to us now ?!!
I also mixed up some humbrol enamel to replicate the faded green top stripe on the 72 S1 . Touched it in using a humbrol hobby kit airbrush.
Same thing looked ACE !!!!!
Maybe we should start doing it again. Have a trophy at Rsllies for " best rattle an paint job ? ".
