As you are all probably aware by now I'm gradually turning my H2c into the bike that I used to have in the late seventies.

Got "Bob the Seat" making me a Guiliari / Two:Four seat to go with my Dunstall rear-sets and Tomasselli bars. Indicators are gone and I'm looking for a good set of period (but good performing) rear shocks. Like Koni or something.

But I also want to find a Cibie headlight. Everyone had them fitted back in the day (at least in Lancashire area) The ones that had a concave glass front on them. Whether they worked better or not I can't remember

Anyway, does anyone know where I can get one from?

Hi Bic, I'm doing the same
I've fitted socket head screws, halogen headlight,I couldn't find a cibie light, renthal bars, Dencos, a rack-for my sandwiches as I couldn't afford to do it when I was a yoof

You can buy a Cibie convex lense unit, but you will need a UK spec 7" chrome rim, it will not
fit an American type H2 head light chrome rim.

Just a quickie regarding the Cibie Headlight.
I remember one particular night many years ago, we used to go out to our local haunt,
the creeksea ferry pub, almost every time on the way back it would end up in a race
up to the burger bar, I was on my H2c, sitting in around 4th place in the 'race', the bike
in front of me was a Z650, I was having to give it some, but I couldn't get past it, the roads
are really quite windy, it was well dark. I was coming right up behind this Z650,and I turned
my lights off, way and behold, brake lights on the Z650 was all over the place, he had been
using my 'cibie' light to see his way. That was him relegated to a 'behind position', those in
front we well away, just me reminiscing...........

Brilliant story mate! That's how I remember them too. The OE lights on Jap bikes at that time were really bad, especially for road racing at night between hangouts or just on the ride home after a long night in the pub with the gang. The Cibie made a huge difference to the experience - it was like a floodlight!

( I just din't know if I was remembering them with rose tinted glasses!)

My escort had a couple of Oscars.

I had a Cibie Z Beam in my H2 in the late 70's and yes it certianly made the post pub race a lot quicker

Was that the creeksea ferry pub at Wallasea in Essex? if so I was probably there. We used to go there regularly then to the burger bar at Rayleigh weir.

Steve, that was the pub back in the day The Creeksea Ferry , and racing back up to burger bar up at
Rayleigh weir, a few ended up in the bushes, or stacking it on some of the really tight 90 degree bends
but the roads were really twisty and you had to know your limits, or you'd be off-Great Times back then,
and yes you were probably an 'Entrant' in the road race.

Yes great times when all that mattered was your bike. "Stacking it" was definitely the term back then when you slung it down the road, Did you go on the runs to burnham each weekend, they were downright dangerous.

Steve, I do remember going on some of the 'Burnham' run outs/race, I somehow recollect that some 'nutter' on a
blue RD400 used to come in first on a regular basis, was it Les Elliot??

Les had the yellow 400D Kenny Roberts replica with full Bill Roberts kit, and was probably the quickest. Can't recall who might have been on a blue one. Also very quick was Steve Styles on a Daytona KH400 or Z900. I actually have some cine film converted to DVD of a trip to isle of white, I will have to post it when I get a minute.

Steve all I can remember about the Blue RD400, was the guy was really quite thin,and had ginger hair!,I still cant remember
his name though...Beric might know.I remember Steve Styles Z900....but this was going back around 39 years now...
