TIA.

Only a bad move if you never used the bike in wet weather.

Bikes are made to be used.

The Nippon none stick tyres must be worth money then that we replaced as soon as possible.

I'm referring to today's rarity and resulting cost of replacement ones, if you can find them ...and I'm not sure why you feel it necessary to remind me that bikes are made to be used :?:

Perhaps both the metal caps and teflon tyres were fine for the Japanese market bikes?

I can't imagine that a major manufacturer would deliberately fit things that would give them a poor reputation.

Schurminator fitted metal plug caps and reckoned they were OK in the rain.

Perhaps 70's rain was more wet than the rain we get now?

I bought these when I built my S1 a couple years ago...not correct but close. I actually just found the correct ones for a song recently but haven't installed them yet. I generally don't take this out in the rain but I have been caught in a complete downpour and suffered no ill consequences.....

I put those "close" type of metal caps too, but she definitely won't be going out in the rain to try them out.

I remember looking down on my S3a and seeing what can only be descrtibed as a lightning show arcing across the top of the engine, followed by the inevitable loss of power and eventual engine cut out. Why anyone would shell out lots of money for them is beyond belief.

Cheers Kas, :D

A little random but my old Z1000A1 had metal caps and never gave any trouble in 3 years - inc a couple of good downpours.

That's unusual Gra, as my memory is good for 30 years ago but shite for 30 minutes ago

Who'd have thought, all those years ago, people would be buying the stuff we threw away.
