Seen something similar on a Brit bike many years ago where the guy had stamped numbers on everything to aid reassembly after Stripping the bike for resto.

I can't see it being to aid a rebuild. Why would you stamp it 4 times ?

I think it must be an attempt at security , like a Flintstones version of Datatagging :D

Maybe similar to the Stanley numbers that are identical for the headlight, shell and rim? Or maybe foundry #'s?
