Is it a motorcycle oil designed for wet clutches or for cars with dry clutches?

You need to give time for the plates to bed in, go do 50 miles of stop-start town riding,
then change the oil.
Did you rough up the steel plates with some Emery cloth to remove any glaze?
Did you put in new springs? It's very important that you put new springs in with new plates.
Springs loose their strength as they get old.

My guess is you have used ordinary car oil. It contains slippy low friction additives which is not good foe wet clutches.

No need for new plates just yet. Try washing the plates in white spirit , let them dry then resoak in the gear oil.

By the way the clutch lever on my H1e requires quite a pull . If yours is easy to pull then I reckon your clutch springs might need replacing too.

Thanks mate ....do I put 500 clutch springs in or 750 ones....do they fit ?

I don't know about 750 springs but 500 springs work fine. I don't think you can buy standard springs - at least you couldn't a few years ago . Mine came described as "heavy duty" , which partly explains the strong pull required for the clutch lever , but my clutch definitely doesn't slip .

You could try fitting one or two H2 steel plates. They are slightly thicker than H1 steels, and could help by packing it out a little more against the springs.

I used heavy duty and thought that my left hand had gone useless.

I seriously thought that I would never be able to open a pickled onion jar again.
