just found out the goal posts have been moved for age to receive, mine by a year to 66 old and my good woman from 60 to 68!! what sense does it make to have geriatrics working to death, how does this improve productivity,?? Blown a hole in our finances as an other four years of work has been added to Anna's working life, I will be 78 when she gets to state pension age!!!
any one else just found out, no one told us, no letters, just a nasty shock when checking the pension forecast!!!

They've been gradually raising it for ages, but announced a year ago that they were going to accelerate the rise. We are just living too long apparently. Luckily I will be ONLY 66 when I get mine.
This is from July 2017 with a useful chart showing how it phases in. :-

My wife missed retiring at 60 by less than a year her new date is 65 years and 3 months. Looking into the future I think there will be no retiring age as such , you will be able to retire if you have made pension provisions to do so if not tough shit you will have to work till you die. We need to be more considerate after all we have the Lords to pay for ( is it £350 a day?) Expensive jollies for our MP`s gold plated pensions for the high paid public sector workers etc etc so what right have we got to expect a state pension when we need to look after these hard done by people.

After 40 years telling people as a financial advisor not to expect to live on state pension. The message is just getting through!
It's only going to be basic survival amount. Save while you can. I saved £30,000 in my last 3years of employment. If you are a 40% tax payer it's a no brainer. No one else will give you 40%mon top of your saving. Even 20%is good!

It was upped a few years back Andrew, where have you been?
But there was another thing mentioned on t' radio today Sam, a lot of people are now taking their full pot as a lump sum but then getting clobbered with a big tax bill. It was said that you're only allowed a lump sum up to 25% tax free.

I thought that was common knowledge regarding 25% being tax free. That`s all I can say is when that twit Osbourne changed the law allowing people to take their full pension pot saying they were responsible enough to look after it then he was talking through is rear end. A classic case when money is no object, I mean for him how he is totally and utterly unaware of how the working class live and survive.
