O.K. It's bike related, not just triple but I fancy getting a bike lift/bench to ease the work on the old heap, any good experiances or recommendations or better still anyone in the Kent/Surrey area wanting to sell one ?

The bench that Machine Mart sell is well worth having and try and buy it when they are having a V.a.T. free day and save about £80 - thats what I did Once you have a bench you will not want to work on a bike again without one! I think my one is made by Clarke.

I have 2 of the Machine Mart ones they are nice and wide and stable.

I've got the Rolls Royce of bike lifts but I still work on the floor. The bike lift is always piled high with crap so I can't be arsed to clear it. Any flat surface becomes a bench in my place.

Like you Mitsui I have been scrabbling around on the floor in all the detritus of a domestic garage which has been used for work tools, dirty dirt bikes and the wife's stuff. I often go out to work on the bike and get so pixxed off with the state of the place I go back indoors and watch the telly.
All that's now changed, new wood storage racking built to store work stuff, dirt bike polished ( it usually is really ) floor painted a light shade of grey ( try and buy light grey floor paint all the stockists seem to think you want to paint your floor dark grey so you can loose that special screw ) wife's stuff relocated.
I will also probably go for the cost effective option of lift, a rating of over 450kg to hold a bike weighing 200 seems O.K. to me, and being smaller will suit my garage better as I already have cupboards and worktop all down one side so I don't need the tool space of a wide top.
Next step is to get the crank rebuilt and start to put it back together.

Well got my bike lift today, managed to source one of the red ones on ebodge for £250 delivered, the firm selling them lists the same lift with 3 prices so I phoned him up questioned it and as long as you don't need next day delivery you get the cheap price -result.
What a fantastic piece of kit, just raising the bike to the first level is a complete revelation everything feels more manageable and my middle aged eyesight does not struggle as much as its all now more illuminated.
No more excuses, now got to start getting the bike back together.

Well I have just been tidying up the garage and realise how much damage the bike lift has done to the floor. I do move it around a lot with a bike on so perhaps it’s partly my fault but those steel wheels are causing the damage.
Anyone replaced theirs with something more forgiving ?
I am thinking along the lines of some hard Neoprene / Nylon wheels, more than happy to do some mechanical mods to make something fit, what have you done ?
The painted grey floor is now longer, it’s now a constant source of concrete dust but there seems little point in just painting it again.

I'd be interested how this pans out. I have the Machine Mart one, but space is the problem. So have thought about swivel wheels so I can move it tight up against the wall when not in use. There is a bike permanently on it.

I have on-bike lift cost about £325 but really good ya cant leave crap on it

Any comments on changing the wheels to prevent floor damage on my bench style bike lift ?

Birch ply (nice and hard) rather than very expensive marine ply!

I have always used a similar scissor lift with my main bike lift as I do not have a centre stand fitted.
Thanks for the suggestion re sheet of ply but as I move my stand all over my garage, to get other bikes out that would not work for me, also with my eyesight a bit of a trip hazard! ( Elf and Safety)

But the reason I looked in here is that I'm just working on using a small car scissor lift as a centre stand (on the bike bench) to be able to change wheels n tyres etc without lashing the bike to the roof girder and lowering the bike bench.
