the drive gear on the h1 clutch is different size to h2
the best mod is to fit uprated springs and spacers from redline racing
i have a set on my h1a and they work a treat

You could try giving Scouse a PM he has done various mods to his H2, and I'm pretty sure he's done the H1 clutch into a H2 mod.

ok
the h1 clutch plates (steels) are thinner than the h2 plates, if you swap the h1 steel plates for the h2 ones you can then fit an extra steel clutch plate in the h2 basket, this stopped my clutch from slipping

If you fit an extra steel plate, will you also have to put an extra fibre one in, or won't you have steel plate against steel plate at some point?

yes you will, this is not a problem, in early h1 clutches the 1st 2 plates are steel

if your 1st two plates are steel gazz you have got it wrong
the early hub had a seperate centre then a steel plate went on that loose
the later hubs had a steel plate fixed to the centre hub

Use H1 steels as they are thinner (as Scouse says), and then machine a small amount off the pressure plate and you can get an extra steel and extra fibre plate in. This will easily hold 80+ hp. Chris Richie can help you with the machining if you are uncertain.

This is a good mod, which is what I have done, the downside is it creates clutch drag

How heavy does the upgraded clutch feel at the lever?

Fit 8x H2 fibres and 7x H1 steels. Then take 0.030" off the back of the centre hub and fit Larry Smiths spring kit. If you don't, the springs will bind and cause the clutch to drag badly. This is THE best mod for an H2 and the clutch has a nice light feel.
OR:
Fit heavy duty springs and snap your fingers off trying to pull the lever in.
