I have recently bought a UK registered from new 1972 H1A. This has different indicators to my other H1A, which is also UK from new in 1973 and the frame number is only 493 apart.

The 1972 H1A has no rear indicator brackets welded to the frame. So did some UK bikes come without indicators and rear brackets? Or are their two types of indicators, as they look very similar (apart from the base) but are mounted to the rear grabrail and front headlight bracket.

as far as I know all early H1's needed brackets fitted to the rear indicators up to 72 H1 B
also indicators were the same up to 72 H1 B
but I could be wrong

Thanks for your responses. It is still puzzling me though, as the indicator brackets are welded to the rear of the frame not bolted as per the pic and I know it has not been modified, as I have known the bike from new.

I was under the impression that all UK spec H1A's had indicators fitted, however this cannot be correct as my other one does not have rear brackets. (Confused)

Are your bikes actually H1a’s. H1a’s were 1971 models
and you say yours were registered in 72 and 73?
What are your frame numbers, ** out the last 2 digits for security.

The bike with the rear indicator brackets is frame number is 474** engine no 539** which is H1A . It is a UK model as the first owner is a friend of mine and it was bought from the local Kawasaki dealer.

Although this bike was registered in 72 and the other 73. I understand from speaking to the dealer (now deceased) that he used to get H1A's from Agrati, when B's were available. Probably knowing the, dealer he used to get them as a discount due to being old stock.

To me it looks like the real deal brackets which were an optional extra
but they have been welded to the frame rather than bolted on as they should be.

Plus 1......jap welding was bad......but that is SUPER bad.

That is also the conclusion I have come to.

My mate who bought the bike new did not have the brackets welded. So one of the other later owners, must have had a mate who thought he could weld
