Ouch!

I`ve not bought anything from the US for a while now because I haven`t really needed to and what with the exchange rate etc.
Thought it was about time I purchased a new air intake boot for the H2 and saw that Jess Freeby had some for sale at a reasonable price even with postage. Now I know Jess is pretty quick off the mark, normally stuff from him arrives quicker than from the UK and after about 10 days I thought strange its not arrived yet
Yes you guessed it, fecking Parcel Farce holding it until I pay the vat
and another £8 to them for the privilidge of holding it for me
I know Rick had mentioned it some of his blog about bike prices going up because of this, but I didn`t realise it was everything above £18 that is now vat applicable
The really interesting thing is I think ebay may be snitching to customs about true values of goods as Jess always marks down the value on the ticket (without even asking) as the vat they charged me bore no relation to the value on the despatch ticket
Its not the money, its the point, shafted at every opportunity
So to cut a long story short, the postage you pay from the US or wherever else outside the EU is plus vat on goods over £18 and then another £8 on top for Parcel Farce to send you a nice letter............... barsteds
Rant over, Van
