Hi Guys
just finishing off my H2c . it was almost ready to fire up and i thought i would turn the engine over a few times with the plugs out. i hear a bang and a very metallic clunk and rattle !
i thought it might be a ring snapping as it is freshly rebored with wossners in it, even though i did clean up the port edges with a file. so after turning it over a few more times i was drawn to the clutch cover and i thought i could hear something inside.
i whipped the clutch cover off and discovered that a clutch spring bolt had let go and snapped. on checking them all i discovered a lot of wear around the top of the threads on all of them. so i replaced them all and all is well. bike fired up 3rd kick and is nice and quiet. imagine the carnage if i had started it before though

That's a coincidence...I put new plates in mine just this last week and snapped a bolt head off. At first I though the thread in the alu had stripped but no, it was the bolt.
....fortunately I suppose. The broken stub came out pretty easily. It felt mushy during tightening and snapped well below the torque setting.
Just about cured the clutch slip but now it's impossible to get into neutral when the engine's running grrrrrrr

The clutch pressure plate bolts seem to made of dairylea cheese . Glad you sorted it .

Years of abuse from people over tightening them, it's worth removing the washers and checking as the stretched part is always hiding behind the washers
