I’m looking at getting some bits blasted but I’ve no idea what’s a good price or not. A local guy is quoting £40 an hour? Am I being ripped off?

When you factor in the beads and electricity I think thats okay...... how bad are the parts ??? degrease and get the worse off yourself first...

The cost will definitely be down to the condition the parts are in when you give them.
They need to be clean before they go in the vapour blaster so the less prep they have to do the cheaper I guess it will be.
I use brake cleaner to clean everything off as best as I can which I buy in 5 litre tubs
I had these done last week by the two lads i mention in the RD350 tidy up.
The parts were real clean when I gave them to them but they lightly bead blasted them first then vapour blasted them.
They are still experimenting with different types of media for the final finish using the bead blaster first.
They havnt had the vapour blaster long so still an element of learning there too.
They dont charge me so Ive no idea what it really costs?
Im sure another friend said he pays between £140 and £200 for crankcases/cylinders and heads at another place he always uses.

Wow, that looks great! I think as you say, I’ll try and do as much of the prep as possible. So many guys get the carb bodies blasted as well? Are there many more parts that would benefit from being blasted?

I’ve got a mix, but I’ll get the hubs done on the ones with drums, that’s a good idea! Any other bits people think are worth blasting?
