Carburetor fuel inlet tube

Triple gurus,
In the space of a few weeks the rubber fuel hoses on my S3A have gone rock hard and - i think - shrunk slightly with the bonus effect of pulling out one of the carburetor brass fuel inlet tubes. Not ideal. Before i replace the fuel pipes with something more ethanol friendly, i thought i had better check the re-fitting of the brass inlet tube on the carb body. Is it just a friction fit? Gently tapped in with a hammer? Or does it require removal and pressing in? It's the center carb.
thanks for guidance and apologies for such a dumb question.
