Hi all just thought I would start a new thread regarding the best improvement or modification you have made to your triple, perhaps this should be in the ‘modified specials and performance ‘ section but then perhaps not everyone is interested in performance and some mods may be valuable to even super standard bikes ?
To start it off I will talk about my favourite mod as I had a fabulous ride out yesterday and it’s so good I think it’s worth considering.
I have a non standard H2 ( undercut gears ) and had trouble selecting neutral, I had tried different oils and messing with the clutch adjustment ( it has a ‘Ralf’ clutch lightener ) I tried selecting the faces of the plain plates ( slight convex shape put in the same direction on assembly ) and a new set of friction plates and was just not happy about not getting neutral with the engine running, the mod is to simply remove the ‘centralising springs’ or crinckled rings that sit inside the friction plates.
I am not exactly sure what they are meant to do as I do not have them on other bikes but I am sure a small amount of clutch drag is created and the gearbox becomes difficult to operate.
Anyway, approaching junctions and generally coming to a stop I can now easily get down to neutral if I want to, give it a try you can always put them back.

Hagons a great option to give some rear damping at a fair price.

Seeing that modern tyres are a popular move and I run Pirelli Sport Demon, 100/90-19 front and 120/80-18 rear will I be opening a ‘ can of worms’ by asking you all what pressures you use ?
I have 28 Psi on the front and 32 on the back, am I optimising my handling and comfort or is there a better set up ?

Unless you are comparing Pirelli Sport Demons on a similar bike with similar weight rider etc, then it's probably irrelevant?

I run 32f 36R with Avons.
Best mod (KH500) is larger jets, swiftly followed by twin discs.

Or go the whole hog and install Ducati 996 front and rear end with Ralf Schipmann billet engine

Did you just jet it and nothing else, airbox, timing etc ? and what size jets.

I was told from day one to remove the silencer and restrictor! So it has K and N filter in the standard airbox, and I've removed the top tunnel thing and baffle box.
I've gradually increased the jet size over the years after talking to different members, I've also used poor quality ones that caused mayhem! It's running 102.5s but needs bigger pilots ( I think) so I'll be trying some 30s at some point
Timing is standard and have Allspeed chambers fitted, they sound and go great but I don't know if they're as good as others. I hope that helps? Dave

I imagine the best mod for a H2 (or any 70's bike tbh) is modern tyres, I remember the Rayon Dunlops used to cause me to wear holes in the arse of my jeans

Seriously the best mod I have done is a twin brake disc conversion on my H2c, swapping from my modern bike onto the H2c gave me far too many ''Sh*t i'm not going to stop here'' moments.

With the twin discs it just about becomes 'acceptable'

I guess the single disc was OK in the seventies with rubbish tyres and drum braked cars, but not today

Double disc, z650 calipers and 75 main jets, plus plastic plumbing kit as standard.

Runs very nice with a lot less trips to garage.

for me the best mod on an H2 was the UFO's.
Got some for my H1 but not tried them yet.
Double discs on my H2c has helped the high speed wobbles mor than the braking!

UFO on H2 means VM 34, Motocarb said me it doesn't work with VM 30.

I have had 3 or 4 tries with the UFO's (bobbles bits) just find they run very, very weak when the needle takes over.

What is a UFO? - that's something i haven't heard of before.
best mod for me was expansion chambers and removing the centrestand - modern tyres is an improvement, but even with 'ye olde' tyres i found that standard exhausts and centrestand ground out when you're only beginning to lean into a corner

aahh - now i understand.

It’s funny these bikes, I’ve had no problems setting 4 h2s up with UFOs, but struggled with Ivan’s kits. I’ve used Ivan’s needles with UFO’s for best results, whereas other people have had the reverse
