After many weeks of calling RH and pushing to get things moving, i am finally getting somewhere. During my weekly call yesterday morning I managed to get a very helpful gentleman, he put me through to 4th dimension RHs claims company. After about 30 mins talking to their operative and filling in more questions. Have been informed that an assessor will be here to view the damage on Friday.

On a sad note, I finally had call on Monday morning from Lancashire police and have given my statement. Only 4 weeks after the bike was stolen.

No wonder kids steal things, there is no deterrent any more.

None of them make it easy for the victim,everything is a tooth and nail struggle.

Likewise, My son and wife had both of their cars stolen off the drive (break in and steal keys) some of the stories the CID told them were unbeleivable, the gangs are organised into groups, no one group knows the others, one set steal and park, one set fuel the car and park it, one set deliver it to either breaker, cloner, exporter, or criminal gang who will use the car.

If they catch any with the car they come out with 'It's me mates car init like, I borrowed it to go to like Macky 'D's' .................they stick to the story, refuse to tell who their mate is and at best get done for no insurance as without evidence linking them to the house break in any criminal charges would fall flat

I remembered someone who got his car back cause he knew one of the two big thiefs of the area.
hadn't stolen by the thief's gang he knew but he got his car back.

And then theres the 'other side' of the hidden costs even 'IF' you get your proerty back

They did get both the cars back though, my daughter in laws car was from her Dads business car fleet and had a dormant tracker fitted, they reactivated the tracker and the car popped up parked up down a quiet road,

My sons car was seen screaming down a road, driver jumped out and ran (Police were chasing apparently) the person who saw this phoned the Police who came and took the car away, both cars were on false plates, On both cars the question was asked of the Police 'why didnt you sit and wait for the gang to come back for the car?'.......................the Police answered 'no point, theyd get off in court and we havent got the time or resource'

DIL car had £5k of damage and recent renewal has gone up 50%, sons car (Golf R) had it's wheels changed by the thieves (well 3 of them, genuine wheels are worth a lot of money) for replica wheels and the 4th wheel badly rattle can painted from gold to silver to hide its ID, the insurance company noted the change of wheels and therefore it wasnt a 'std' car and used this to cancel his insurance, it cost him about £2k for VW to change and recode the lockset, £1500 to replace the bent replica wheels and his insurance has just about doubled as he has now had a policy 'cancelled'

This is why, distorting the truth with those "extras "you have on your car or more so your bike, like expansions, rearsets, mag wheels, different front/rear end or converting to a 4 cylinder should be told to your insurance.......
They're in the business of making money and just love standard at least YOU to say its standard ( they have asked you this when you fill in there questionaire, being in on line or verbally
Any deviation from standard that comes up in a claim, they just love it, as they cancel your policy because you lied.
There in the business of making profit, thats there true goal.

dormant tracker can be fitted on bikes (hiden of course) would help peculiary if you havean alarm ring on your mobile phone.

That sounds harsh...but it's very true

Update - Assessor came Friday morning took away all my costs for parts that I believe to be required. Also talked about what else there could be as I am not allowed to touch anything before we have an agreement.
He could see it was in excellent condition and said he would be devastated if it was his bike.

Still playing a waiting game though.

while your waiting , find replacement parts & document the cost maybe screen shot them as proof for when you get a settlement offer .My daughters car was parked someone ran in to it , wrote it off & ran off . They offered her a settlement i told her to find the some car similar mileage & age which she sent them & they offered her £500 more . Yes mate done that..
Bike is insured with an agreed value. Which TBH is probably a bit low.

Had some good news today, have been given the go ahead to start stripping the bike and itemising all the parts required.

A busy few weeks ahead me thinks.

Back in 2021, I was hit from behind on the M60 in slow moving traffic, except the car that hit me didn't slow down
The car was drivable and other than the bumper there didn't appear to be much damage.
When I removed the bumper part of the chassis under the bumper had been dented.
At which point the insurance company wrote the car off. (07 plate astra twin top)
I took it round to my mates garage, he put it on the ramp and said the chassis was still straight and it was superficial.
The insurance company offered me a grand, having done my research I thought that was about right.
I accepted the offer and asked to buy the salvage back
"We value the salvage at £90, in order to put the car back on the road you'll need to get a full MOT and inform us when it passes.
One bumper and a trip to my mates garage and the car was once again legal.
However that isn't the end of the story.
2 months ago I got a letter from my insurance company
Dear mister Tipping
We are really sorry but we undervalued your car when we assessed it ( from pictures I might add) here's another £400
To say I was gobsmacked was an understatement.
My insurance company is direct line.
Since my 1st accident I've had another, a woman turned across my path and destroyed my other Twintop.
Again Direct Line were superb, getting the car recovered etc etc
They paid out in 24 hrs of the assessment
Oh and they offered me £1,500 for this one, I wasn't messaging about so bit his hand off ( I had around £900 in the car)
But yes I always declare any mods no matter how small

A lot has happened in the last two weeks, firstly I have an agreement from the insurance company and a settlement figure than will help to pay for most things. Stripped the bike down to near bare frame, engine apart and parts away for refurbishment. Headlight ears straightened by Mr Pete Walford ( what a fantastic job they are too) cheers again Pete.
Chrome parts sent to Agbrigg Chrome platers. Sent all aluminium cases for polishing. Stator sent to Alan Moss for rebuild.

Next the build back up.
