On assembly, is there a certain position for the above to be fitted. I've watched video clips and looked through workshop manuals but nothing definate (as I could see), other than to secure it in the gearbox after passng through the selector arms. I'm assuming it doesn't matter as when the selector forks are engaged correctly, on their respective shafts, it will all self align? I've included two pictures.
Many thanks

I usually assemble it with the selector drum set in the neutral position

malc87 thanks for the reply. Where would neutral be in relation to the selctor drum position. If I said useing the large slot as a datum at 12 o'clock, as in one of my pictures, where would the large slot be for neutral?

The metal part of the selector drum with the tip of the key on it should be opposite the hole in the top of the crankcase where the black plastic neutral switch goes.
So if you have the top case upside down the metal part of the selector drum will be at the bottom.
Put it in in this position turn the top crankcase over, remove the black neutral switch if it's on and check you can see the metal part of the selector drum through the hole in the crankcase where the neutral switch mounts.
The metal part is what the contact on the black plastic part locates to so you get neutral or more important it shows the green neutral light on once its all connected
