Bikes in van

My bikes do more miles in the van than on the road!!!
I’ve never had any trouble securing them in transport, but have been thinking of getting a couple of the wheel chocks pictured.
My question is to anyone who uses them. Do they need to be secured to the van floor when in use?

Got two in Roobarb. Great. Wheel the bikes in and easy to secure them without having to hold them

Ive used them for a few years now and there NOT secured to the floor.
Downside is pulling them out of the stand.
You need to keep a foot on one of the rear arms that stick out as the whole thing just wants to slide on the plastic floor liner of the transit.
Ive now put a ratchet strap over both both stands secured to the fixed mounting points at floor level on each side behind the bulkhead.
seems to have done the trick

Hi Simon
Used one for a few years now , great and easy to use . like Malc mines strapped to the bulk head to stop it moving backwards when taking bikes off ,

I had several problems...
First was that the stand sent was not as shown in the pictures, the forward upright was far more upright than in their pictures (your picture looks correct), consequently the tyre barely sat in the "wings" and the rear of the bike didn't clear the rear ramp of the bus. Returning it and buying another (from elsewhere) showed that they were all the same, however I did then receive a refund..
I eventually cut the "wings" off and the bike then sat further forward.
It needs a lot of force to get the bike to ride over the tilting part, so it needs "ramming" in, if the stand isn't secured it simply slides forward.
And as Malc said it also needs securing (by foot) to get the bikeout again.
Mine is bolted to the floor and I still can't ram it in hard enough, so I've left the tilting part off.

I managed to get 2 of the chocks for £50.
Must admit I’m impressed. Good heavy quality, easy to use. They have rubber feet so don’t seem to slide about when removing the bike.

When I get too old to ride my bike, maybe I will buy a van. By that time I will need to get some. But until then I will keep riding.

I used a couple of these in my trailer way back when, as Simon says they are very good and provide an easy safe secure method of transporting your bikes(s)
