Fuel leak

Greetings KTC,

Seeking advice on my S3A which has decided to leak lots of fuel through the carburettor junction clamp to the cylinder head, when the petrol tap is switched on. Is this likely to be as simple as a faulty float or could it be something else? And if its a stuck float can this be fixed in situ, more importantly (its the outside carb, not the center)?

thanks for any words of wisdom.

all best
julius

Usually find that it is a holed float and needs to be changed, If it is sticking a quick rub with fine sandpaper of the pin can sort it. Thumbs Up

It's a dodgy float or float valve. Float is easy to check, give it a shake to see if you can hear any petrol inside. Then get a jug of hot water and see if it floats, push it under and see if there any bubbles escaping.

Just another point, check if fuel has gone into the crankcases before you start it, to avoid hyrolocking and a bent conrod. Perhaps take the plug out and give a good few kicks Thumbs Up
