Hey guys, can anyone help or advise please, I have the original shocks from my H1b (its currently on Hagons), I would like to recondition the original shocks and wonder what is the best route to take all advice greatfully received, I've attached a couple of pics Ta V much

Hi There,

I,ve had two sets of shocks rechromed of late,

The thing to look out for ( or smell out for ) is any fluid leakage from the dampers... these are not designed to be rebuilt.

So if they are leaking best to bin the damper units, keep all the other bits.... I have had a new set of Z-Power units rebuilt with re-chromed origninal springs, top mount etc.

Turned out 20mm longer, but thats what I wanted, keeps a bit more weight over the front wheel... no bad thing on a H2.

When the old units are stripped for plating most people seal around the piston rod with silicone.

Both sets I've had done look brill and still work ..... what I mean is they don't leak and provide some degree of damping!!!

Thet were pretty cr*p when new, so what hope 35 years later!?

Correct they were useless when new but look brill rechromed.

how do they do that with the oil still in em' must be saggy as hell,
dont go round corners,

fit some Hagons for riding,...

First of all I have had few to drink tonight but if you were on a road you knew you knew what to expect and it give a good feeling with the shakes and wiggles but on a road you did`nt know it did`nt forgive I know cause it happened to me in 71 on the Island.
These bikes are now old and still fun to ride but if you want to scratch do yourself a favour and buy a modern bike. I had my units rechromed by Doug Taylor in Banwell near bristol and he did a nice job and I will ride the bike accordingly,I have a VFR which does things nicely for me but the h1a is the thing I want to ride and will do so to it`s ancient capabilities. Sorry for this post but will apologies in the morning for the ramblings.

I think it's those 'brick in the pants' moments that make my bike special, had one just the other day when she wanted to start a weave as I passed some cars absolutely as fast as her little legs would go....

I could feel the beads of sweat start to prickle..

Hey Eric your post made me laugh.. had a few drinks eh Good man I like it
I only ride the H1 for my own enjoyment now and again, cos it reminds me of that 70s era, it handles fine with the Hagons, and I was enquiring about reconing the original shocks so that they would be available if the bike was ever on display
I can scratch on my GTR and that puts a different smile on my face see pic taken in Austria this June

Hi Guys, I was up at 7 so no lay in, had to do my little job this morning.
I thought everybody was old on here??? Anyway when we`re riding I think we all feel young.Good feeling can`t beat it
