Kawasaki Triples Club

Finally Jo had managed to get a pair of boots on (albeit a pair of mine that are a bit to big for her good foot)
With the sun out we jumped on my 69 H1 and headed off to Squires.
I parked it up and got a few looks but not many
then Ray Goddard turned up on his H1D (a bit more shiny than my 69 )
A few people got their cameras out and were taking pictures of Rays bike. After a cuppa Ray left and a small crowd gathered, to watch him go
We stayed for a few hours with my bike hardly getting noticed (or so I thought)
we decided it was time to go and I pushed my bike out into a less crowded part of the car park so Jo could get on easily.
All of a sudden we had a crowd around us, ( it is times like this that you pray to the god of triples that a bike you do not really know will start 1st kick!!)
It did and crowd suddenly got VERY big Jo climbed on and I suddenly got very nervous as half of squires must have been stood around watching, fortunately it was a smooth clutch slipping howling, smoking 5,000 rev departure up the car park

All heads turned as we passed

in the 3 or so hrs that we were there lots of bikes came and went, british, italian, modern jap and classic two strokes ( rd 250, rd 200 350 lc ) all came and went without a bat of an eyelid

I must admit I was very surprised at the reaction when we left, but 41 yrs on it is still THE bike to turn heads

Of course it is ! Always will be. How many people told you they had a mate who killed himself wheelying in 5th gear ?

I get the same reaction when i go to Box Hill on the H1a especially when it comes to going home
it's usually just when the helmet go's on somebody wants to ask you a 101 questions about the bike which is nice but sometimes the helmet is off and on two or three times

For me Triples always were the bikes you daren't ride only nutters had THEM !!!!
In the early seventies in Newcastle there were very few kawasaki's as there was no local dealer on westgate road. plenty hondas The first H2 I ever seen was a brown H2B next to a Z1 and despite the Z being fab bike everyone was interested in the triple even back then in 74.
I was terrified of it the noise scared the life out me I WAS only 18 and bit soft at the time, I had honda 250 Complete piece of shite but it got me to work. Evel knievel couldn't wheelie one those.

mate of mine wheelied a cx500 thats the scariest thing i've ever seen

my m8 nige used to wheelie his rd 400 on the top of a humpback bridge......got some stones that lad had

its the Z1 owners club rally at squires at the end of this month i think a few of us should turn up and steal the limelight from them

I was out for a blast and found myself within striking distance of the swan so went there (unplanned). Chatted to a chap who told me about 5 lanes and the H2 there. There were some outlaws at the swan.

5 lanes end had only about 10 bikes there 8:30-9:00. Too cold for some i presume so didnt stay long and no one spoke.

Will tinkle next time im that way
