Kawasaki Triples Club

After a notional 22 years lying dormant (sorry John, can't count)including 23 months in boxes in my garage, my KH500 fired up yesterday.

I have never heard it run and today, I did 3 short engine runs.

There is still much to do and it has taken far to long, but cold weather and an ignition gremlin, plus some apathy, have extended the project.

Further engine runs this week and official rollout at the weekend, before commissioning trials, mot and registration.

Great news when a Bike lives again. My S3A will be 28 years off the road when it Hopefully lives sometime this Year.

Great to see another triple back on the road.

A few people seem to be rebuilding KH500's at the moment, they appear to be getting popular at last.

Eric, just added the total to date and just over £4k spent. (gulp)

Not as much as restoring a Supermarine Spitfire.

I have made a few mistakes on the way and bought some stuff that really does nothing for the bike.

But the paintwork needed doing, which made the chrome look tacky and it snowballed from there.

Would have been far more sensible and cheaper to have bought one all done, but theres no fun in that.

I have really enjoyed the whole process and have got to meet some really helpful and clever people (many of them club members) which has been an unexpected bonus.

Needless to say, next one is in the planning stage.

I will have some images after official roll out, Sunday (you really don't want to see the inside of my garage and I don't want you to) plus the rigourous security measures in place, restrictting access to the garage door, has got a flat battery and wont start.

That's made me feel better.
I'm also just in the process of finishing my H1F restoration and I've no idea exactly how much I've spent on it & I'm not even going to add it up because I don't want to scare myself !

It will easily be £4k though, probably more, I'm not even going to think about it, I'll just enjoy my (very expensive) bike !

Well done on the completion by the way, looking forward to the photos.

I'm already well past the £4K mark and am still going strong ...and I've only had the H1F since Jan this year.

If I can keep it under £5K properly finished, I reckon I will have done well, but I doubt I will - there is always something isn't there

Still it's only money as they say .....

Big mistake keeping a list of the cost. It always runs away so its best not to know, just guess, it`s better.

So my UK KH500 must be bargain @ £3,500

Update:

Been banned from running the Kh500 in the garage.

Left the downstairs toilet window open and oh dear! house smells like the 'blue haze day', which actually I don't mind.

Still being a bit of a sod and not running properly anyway, so images will be a liitle delayed.
