That's a bummer Gary, you'll have a spare somewhere I'm sure.

this happened

rebuilt again with a new rod and then it hydrolocked, since this pic was taken I have done 8,000 miles

fuel problem, the crankcase was full, not sure why, as I have never had a problem before ?
the bike had not been sat long maybe a week or 2
the tap was on on, so I need to check the tap after the rebuild or before even

Hi Gary,
yes I'm up & doing cranks again. As the rod is on the end it would be easy to pop it off and fit a good, serviceable used rod if that's any help to you. I have a few good used rods in stock that people have donated when having new rods fitted so they are free of charge.
Mr Tangoman had just the same problem with his bike with fuel filling up the cylinder. I still find it amazing how the rod bends so much.
Flipping unlucky with that crank though!
Chris.

So does having/using a center stand get over this, or give you three bent rods.

Yeh interesting topic vince "
Is it float valves not closing ? But then fuel should run out overflow ?
How does it run into crank / cylnders

yeah, whats the process for shutting bike down when it wont turn off at the key,..symptom of hydro-locking with mega over-revving,
press panic button but wheres that
heard to check your oil tank after long lay up, (might have run/ dribbled into engine) as pump is usually slightly open ?

don't fancy a pingle tap as I like to have a reserve, heard some bad reports about the pattern ones available

mark sav wrote:gary, that looks like you had case welded in picture? if so it could be porous and letting the usual leaking fuel from carbs go straight into crankcase.because with the carb overflows and breathers i cant understand flooding getting down inlet.

The crackcases have not been welded, I have heard it happening to other people too, Alan Smith for one, I can only presume that the diaphragm in the tap failed ?

I have one of those chrome pattern taps. It has a reserve and I've had no probs with it.

If I remember correctly I think Alan did it as he was running 34's without a vacuum pipe so rode it on prime, and forgot to turn the tap off
TWICE

Gary, The 2 outlet pingle does have a reserve, I have just fitted one on my special and will just put a tee on one to split it between 2 carbs, when you look at the bore size of the outlets they must be 3 times as big as a standard tap so I don't see any issue, especially for a road bike.
