Plenty of alternatives available - just go for either a 110/90 or a 120/90 instead ..... Conti Go's were about the cheapest last time I checked
They also do a 400H x 18 as well - National Tyres are £64.00

In all honesty Chris, I have never really cared how long tyres last mate as long as they work OK while they are fitted.
For anyone that is a bit more bothered mind, the 110/90 x 18 would be a viable alternative to the standard fit 4.00 and would not be quite as squeezed on the rear rim, spreading the profile of the tyre a bit more.

It's OK buying cheap from Germany or even via mail order from the UK....but if you hit a manufacturing problem with the tyres you are screwed....and believe me, it does happen
Manufacturing faults may not be uber common, but all the manufacturers do have some .....
