Looking good M"hare, i noticed you have the old style gas meter on the wall, we used to disconnect them , turn them round,
No more big bills, use a shifter " not a stilson, so"s not to chew the nuts, mind turn it back before meter reading time,,

Just wondering why you thought it was strange that it has had a top end rebuild?
makes perfect sense to me
The top end was worn out so it was rebuilt
Other people would spend their money making it pretty, then wisper to their mates "as good as my bike looks I just can't get it to run right ". the bike would come out for rallies and be in a van there and back
this is not as uncommon as you think!!

it is easier to get fit without wrecking the frame coating if the cylinders aren't fitted, I would fit the pistons beforehand though if you drop a circlip at least you can shake it upside down..
If you have the cases back together everything you need should already be done.
Cylinders, covers, generator and other things can all go on afterwards.

Afre you have run it in
remove the the top trumpet from the airbox
it will "wake" the bike up :smt023
